S4. Episode 1: You Are NOT Alone – Show Notes

Additionally, our host, Bailey, takes the time to discuss how un-alone we are in our struggles with bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety and a host of other mental health diagnoses. Mental health is a topic that is talked about a lot more these days, but the more awareness we can bring about it, the better.

Bailey’s 2022 Reading List

Before I get too ahead of myself, here’s my list of 14 books that I read throughout 2022. Nine of these fourteen books are considered part of the self-help genre. Three of these books are autobiographies and the remaining two books are fiction – one that I chose to read on my own and one that was part of a Reading Scholarship opportunity at my college. While autobiographies aren’t technically self-help, my opinion of that differs. We learn from the mistakes of others and reading someone’s life story with all of the ups and downs they experienced can benefit our own lives in many different ways.

S3. Episode 16: Dude, What’s Your Problem? – Show Notes

Tune in as Bailey speaks from the heart about how bipolar disorder often turns her tone of voice into an aggressive one. When anger or frustration arise, it often comes out onto whoever happens to be nearby, although it may have absolutely nothing to do with the other person involved. She hopes that hearing her describe how bipolar disorder can often take over her emotions will help you better understand why people you know (or even sometimes people you don’t know!) may do this to you for seemingly no reason.

S2. Episode 10: “Rest When You’re Stressed” – Show Notes

Bailey takes a moment to spill the beans about how stress has taken over her life in recent weeks. Tune in as she talks extensively about the book, “Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle” by Emily & Amelia Nagoski, what she’s learned from it that has helped her relieve stress and how this has helped with managing her bipolar disorder. She’ll leave you with a small, simple challenge that, when practiced daily, can bring enormous change.

S3. Episode 11: This is What Depression Feels Like – Show Notes

Tune in as Bailey gets vulnerable and talks all about what her bipolar disorder depressive episodes have felt like over the years. She goes into detail on behaviors that she would often (and still sometimes does) engage in while depressed as a way to help those who have never experienced depression to better understand it. It’s also an opportunity for those currently dealing with depression or intermittent depressive episodes to hear that you are not alone.

S3. Episode 10: The Body Keeps The Score – Show Notes

Tune in as I discuss a difficult book that I’ve been reading about trauma and how I’ve been able to continue to do so without becoming triggered. The Body Keeps The Score by Dr. Bessel van Der Kolk is a fascinating book that helps the reader understand how trauma affects our brain, mind and body and how we can move forward with healing. This is NOT a book review episode and WARNING: it may be triggering to some.
