- I mentioned “positive and uncomfortable emotions” in these episode on more than one occasion… I actually found a list of them from this site while doing some research, although you should know that I, personally, do not like calling uncomfortable emotions “negative” because while it’s not fun to feel them, they are not bad.
- Want more detailed information on toxic relationships? Check out this article that defines 8 different types of toxic relationships. For those wondering, my relationship with Bob was a combination of types 1, 7 & 8. Just a reminder – I was not a healthy human being when I jumped into this relationship with him so I don’t fully blame him for everything that occurred between us. Although, I’m very thankful that I recognized his toxic behavior patterns early on and got out of the committed relationship quickly.
- Here is a great resource for anyone needing encouragement or help getting out of an abusive relationship. Please remember that abuse is not always physical. Mental and emotional abuse are still abuse and no one deserves to have to go through that.
- I used a newer term, “gaslighting”, in this episode when I was on the topic of my toxic relationship. If you’re looking for more detailed information on the subject, check out this article on Psychology Today.
- Y’all…. I have tracked down the name of that TV series that I need you to watch! It’s on Amazon Prime sooo if you don’t have access to it, I highly recommend that you hit up all of your people and see who’s account you can borrow. Modern Love, Episode 3 “Take Me As I Am, Whoever I Am” has Anne Hathaway portraying a woman dealing with her bipolar disorder while trying to maintain her professional and dating relationships. The episode is actually based upon an essay written by Terri Cheney who’s dealt with bipolar disorder for most of her life.
